The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is offered in two different models (CLK350, CLK550), and in two different body styles (coupe and convertible). The CLK350 comes with a 268-horsepower, 3.5L V6, while the CLK550 includes a 382-horsepower, 5.5L V8. The entire CLK-Class line uses a 7-speed automatic transmission, and all CLK-Class models have rear-wheel drive.

The entire line of CLK-Class models comes very well equipped, with heated 10-way power front seats, leather upholstery and trim, burl walnut trim, dual-zone climate control with sun and humidity sensors and a pollen filter, an infrared Smart Key entry system, and a 6-speaker sound system standard on the base CLK350. Options include a sunroof, a DVD navigation system, heated seats and Sirius satellite radio. With its larger, more powerful engine, the CLK550 adds improved brakes and a sportier suspension, as well as 18-inch wheels.

CLK-Class convertibles include a weather-insulated, multi-layer power-folding cloth top and automatic rollover-sensing pop-up roll bars, with a heated glass rear window. The entire CLK-Class line features a generous list of safety features, including anti-lock brakes with brake assist and the ESP stability control system; coupes get side airbags and side-curtain airbags covering both rows, while convertibles have seat-integrated combination head/thorax bags. Rear side bags are available on coupes.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class lineup of coupes and convertibles carries over to 2009 largely unchanged in light of a complete redesign due later this year as a 2010 model. Most noticeable for this year is the loss of the top-of-the-line CLK63 AMG and CLK63 AMG Black Series from the lineup.

Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class coupes and convertibles are luxurious, mid-size 2-doors that prioritize comfort and interior appointments above overt sportiness. The models have generously proportioned, supportive front seats across the line, while even the CLK-Class convertible is a rarity among drop-tops as a true 4-seater, with enough space for two in back.
